Ashgabat: Turkmenistan coach Yazguly Hojageldiyev has announced a 28-man squad for the Central Asians’ upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Indonesia on July 23 and 28.
“The aim of the team is to enter the next stage and the boys are determined to achieve it,” Hojageldiyev told www.the-afc.com, after naming 24 domestic-based players and four plying their trade overseas for the home-and-away matches.
Striker Berdy Shamuradov of Ashgabat and Gochkuli Gochkuliev of Gara Altyn headline the squad. Midfielder Ruslan Mingazov (Skonto, Latvia) and striker Artur Gevorgyan (Nasaf, Uzbekistan) will link up with the rest on July 20.
In preparation for the qualifiers, Turkmenistan are training in Minsk, Belarus, where they plan to engage in three friendlies.
Turkmenistan and Indonesia met twice in 2004 in the qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and both sides scored a win each with the same scoreline of 3-1.
